Project Description:

The mission of the Benjamin Moore Design Center is to provide in-depth consultation services to Benjamin Moore's clients. Five distinct spaces take the client through the program narrative. Upon entering the Design Center one is in the Color Gallery illuminated by rotating artwork painted with Benjamin Moore paints. Next one enters the Color Inspiration area where three vignettes of furnished interior spaces each utilize color in their own creative way, with the intent of opening clients up to new ideas. Following this is the Color Decision area in which consultants sit with each client at custom fabricated work tables, under pure white illumination, and review sample boards, precedent imagery and swatches. In the Color vault, the logic of the pan-tone watch has been expanded to spatial proportions, creating a room with floor to ceiling custom cabinetry on three walls which display and hold each of the 4000+ colors offered by Benjamin Moore and a light box on which to examine them. Finally the classroom space is used for a variety of activities including meetings, workshops, dinner parties and demonstrations. The three custom trapezoidal tables can be configured in many ways in response to the desired function of the space, and when not being used for a special function, consolidate into the triangular form of the companies logo, which is complimented by the triangular for of the lighting above.
